David began his State Farm career in October 1981 and became active as a liaison on the State Farm Legislative Committee at a grass-roots level and continue to be to this day.  His mantra has always been to “support the community that supports my business”. David has been an active volunteer for many years within his community and his volunteering began back in high school at Steinmetz while being an officer in Key Club.

President of the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce since 1991, they developed a strong organization made up of a strong core group, essential to any successful group. He was honored as Member of the Year several times.

The GPCC has had a large impact on the Gladstone Park community in terms of supporting the residential community as well as growing the business community.

We fought proposed legislation and ordinances that would have had a negative effect on the community as a whole, in one case garnering over 4,000 signatures to petition a plan that only the alderman wanted, and we won. We host many community activities including Bike Safety Rodeos, Kids Fests, and Expos to name a few.  Our biggest accomplishment has been our annual Throwback Music Fest which was truly a well-received festival for the community.  Our first year drew over 10,000 people and our 2017 Fest drew over 14,000.

Past Board Member Edgebrook Chamber of Commerce and active member in the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce.

He coached and sponsored youth baseball & basketball for 26 years.

Past President and Athletic Director of Fox River Grove Rec Council for many years.

Active volunteer for his church, always willing to lend a hand in completing projects for the Youth.

Charter Member and Past President of the Fox River Grove Memorial Foundation which was an organization created to build a memorial for the seven (7) children who died in the bus/commuter train accident on 10.25.1995. Past President of Elk Grove Village Jaycees, honored as Illinois Jaycee Ambassador #163.

David and his high school sweetheart, Demetria (Kanelos) Wians, 6/71, have been married for 39 years and have five outstanding children as well as a couple of very cool grandchildren. David’s entire world revolves around his family and none of the above-mentioned accomplishments would have been possible without the support and participation of his family.
