Mr. Mitchell has written music and lyrics for many Patriotic songs, including music for the WWI poem “In Flanders fields”. In 2014, Peter was invited to conduct his composition in England for the 100th year remembrance ceremony of the start of WWI. As a ten-year member of the Lyric Opera Company, he has served as a supernumerary and has performed the role of Patriarch, Abbot of the Chudov Monastery in the play Boris Goudenov. He spent 22 years as adjunct business faculty at Waubonsie College, and was the Project manager of Executive Service Corp providing consulting service to many non-profit organizations.

We are sad to inform everyone that Peter J. Mitchell passed away on September 15, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.  He was 81 years old. He is survived by his 3 children Jennifer, Scott, and Stephanie; sister, Stathea (Mitchell) Flevaris, 6/63, of Chicago; and late-life companion, Mary Widrick of Geneva.
